Celebrating the 4th of July – Rochester Style

2020 - A Different Year

For many of us, celebrating our country’s birthday here in Rochester may look a little bit different this year. Whether that means social distancing to keep yourself safe or not being able to attend the municipal fireworks shows, we still want to take a moment to honor this great country and city we love and live in.

Here’s some photos we’ve pulled from our archives taken in the last several years that show our unwavering love for our city and our country.

This picture was taken aboard the Mary Jemison boat tour that used to cruise from Corn Hill Landing in downtown. Operated by Corn Hill Navigation, the boat cruise has ended its operations in downtown for the time being, but interested parties looking for a similar exciting experience can still purchase tickets on the Sam Patch that explores Schoen Place in Pittsford, NY.

Prominent in this picture are the Freddy-Sue Bridge and The Metropolitan.

We may not be able to enjoy a professional fireworks display by the City of Rochester this year, but we’re almost certain many of us can hear (and see!) some of the shows that others are lighting up at night.

Here is a shot from the Capron Street Lofts rooftop of the fireworks over the Freddy-Sue Bridge and the Genesee River.
